Adjusting your beauty routine for Autumn months is quite simple. Adding select items to your wardrobe and makeup routine can keep you functional and fashionable.
Autumn Makeup
Most shades you already own can be used year round. Adding a fall color as an accent can be as simple as a green eyeliner, dark brown eyeshadow, or a plum lip color.
Fall shades include oranges, browns, greens, burgundies, and even purples. Introducing deeper shades to your regular look makes achieving a fall look easy and fun. Pairing a bold, burgundy lip with a neutral light brown eye look is stunning. A deep plum eyeshadow with a bold eyeliner with a neutral lip is seductive and can take you from day to night without any changes.
Changing your gloss is also an easy way to change the look of your summer lip color to fit into fall. Selecting a more tinted gloss can top a lip shade or worn alone. Make sure it’s a moisturizing formula to help your lips stay healthy with the changing season.
Keeping that summer glow can be achieved by highlighting your cheeks and brow. You can even spritz on a summer-like sheen with a hydrating highlighting mist.
Autumn Skin Care
Adding and maintaining hydration and moisture is key to your skin’s health with seasonal changes. Ensure you are using moisturizers morning and night, and that your cleanser doesn’t dry out your skin.
Consider adding products with hyaluronic acid which is typically a small molecular structure and can go deep into the pores. They are known to absorb hydration from the environment and any products you apply afterwards.
Topical collagen treatments are also a great way to introduce hydration and moisture quickly. They can help with reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles as well by helping plump the skin.
Detoxifying masks are good year-round, but they are great to help keep skin healthy and hydrated in cooler temperatures. They help keep your pores clear to allow your other skin products do their job of keeping you looking younger.
Don’t forget the rest of your body. Using lotions, body butters, and hydrating body washes will keep your body hydrated and help with anti-aging. Exfoliate with body scrubs weekly and moisturize after every shower. Try not to use extremely hot water when bathing as that will dry skin.
Finally, drink plenty of good, pure, filtered water. This means just water without any flavorings, tea, or coffee. Our bodies are about 70% water, and it requires replacement every day.
Autumn Fashion
Autumn brings a variety of temperatures throughout the day making layers a great option.
A classic look is wearing a flannel button-up long-sleeve shirt (or any long-sleeve shirt) over a tank-top or short-sleeve shirt. Unbutton the shirt and roll up the sleeves as the day warms up.
Chunky sweaters are a true fall season icon. Adjust the weight of sweater and openness of the weave to suit the temperature. Again, adding a light-weight shirt underneath allows for the option to remove the sweater as the day warms up.
The other fall icon is boots. Trade in flip-flops for fun, fashionable boots with buckles, zippers, and other hardware. Or just slip on some simple leather booties with some skinny jeans.
Wool and fleece-lined skirts are fashionable and warm. Paired with boots or Mary Jane’s or high-heeled Oxfords, the create an elegant, classy look.
Fleece-lined leggings are a comfortable option to pair with a long sweater or under a short skirt or dress. You can even find jeggings which are jean leggings.
For the really chilly days, add a stocking cap. Messy bun beanies are perfect for the days you don’t want to fix your hair!
